Club Profile
Welcome to the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC) website.
The Management Committee of the club and the PIARC Website Team hope that you find this site easy to use and all the information you require at your fingertips. If you have ideas you think will assist you to use the website, please email the web team at websitefeedback@piarc.com.au
PIARC, was created in 1952 to build a race track at Phillip Island and to further the interests of motorsport both at Phillip Island and at other venues.
The club, in addition to still running race meetings at Phillip Island, is active in the conduct of motor sport events such as Sprints and Motorkhanas for the club members. For information on these events, look under Clubsport or under Event Regulations on this site. In addition to the club events, we run a number of open race meetings at Phillip Island each year and assist at many other events around the country.
Whether you are interested in flag marshalling, radio communications, scrutiny of race cars, race administration, race control, or any of the other duties we carry out at events, we have roles and training for you. We are very much involved with the CAMS Officiating Program and our training sessions are tied in with the program and with the CAMS Licencing system. PIARC also has a high involvement in the conduct of the two international motorcycle race meetings at Phillip Island each year and can arrange your involvement in these if you are interested. Likewise, we are active at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and can act as a conduit for you to work at this event held at Albert Park. Look under Officiating for details of all of this action.
Socially we meet monthly at the clubrooms which we share with the Royal Victorian Aero Club in First Ave, Moorabbin Airport. We met on the first Thursday of each month, but you are welcome at the clubrooms on any night of the week or at weekends to enjoy the licenced restaurant and bar facilities. As a bonus, you have a first class view of the runways from the bar and dining room. The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday and the food and service is highly recommended.
In addition to this website, we produce a regular magazine for members to keep them abreast of club activities and developments. This magazine is gradually being merged with this website, this being the medium of the future and already accessible to the majority of members. Whatever the future brings in this regard, the club will always have ready information available about coming events, sporting and social, and personal news about our members.
